This is probably my least justifiable 4 star rating.

This whole review section is meant for explaining your thoughts, your feelings, get across why you did or didn't like something. If I were to use it that way for Spider-Man 2, I would mostly be writing about how poor Tobey Maguire sells the role, or how rushed literally EVERYTHING is. Peter changes his mind on a dime, practically, going from superhero to civilian and back again in the blink of an eye. Doc Ock gets no time for development, and his last scene is practically over before it began.

But... I'm actually raising the rating. For years, I've spent too much time thinking about how fucking dumb it is that Peter loses powers tied to his biology because of his lack of responsibility, but in the moment, it isn't that bad. Really, there just is something inherently fun about all this sloppiness. There are times where you can even see Raimi starting to slip into Evil Dead 2 mode, but the restrictions of studio blockbuster prevent him from going all the way. I kinda wish we could see him make this film now (Disney won't allow his Doctor Strange to do it either most likely), but as is? This is just a fun as hell movie... just be prepared to kind of poke a little fun at it.
