    Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris

The exemplary proof of what a serious kaiju film can and "should" be!

This is the perfect alternative for those who think the numerous Godzilla sequels are mostly silly schlock and the earlier Gamera movies are for children. A healthy dose of grimness, reality, strong characterizations and some of the best looking practical monster-effects makes this last entry in the trilogy worthy of standing amongst the original Godzilla, Godzilla vs Destroyah and Shin Godzilla in my book. My only complaint is that now there aren't really any more of these to look forward to!

    Gamera vs. Guiron

Not gonna lie. A sadistic monster with a huge blade on his head gleefully chopping up and decapitating a monster opponent while it's alive and cannibalistic space women trying to lure and eat earth kids lost on another planet... is my kind of children's movie!

Honestly, I'm truly baffled as to why some people would think this is worse than "Gamera vs Viras". Aside from re-capping stock footage and kids constantly shouting "Gamera! Gamera!" in too many scenes, this one is a big step-up from that last disaster.

Makes sense if you saw the movie. But hey, I'm no big-time movie producer. The idea is fine in theory, the execution however is far from it. It tarnishes the name(and brand…

  • Frankenfish

Let me start off by saying something obvious; Frankenfish is no "Jaws". But it doesn't have to be!

Frankenfish is not gonna change anybody's mind on the "creature-feature" sub-genre. That however does not mean that this is neither well written or fun. On the contrary, this is a movie that is for the most part straight played but well aware of what it is so that it doesn't become too serious nor too corny. It's an early 2000's "Sy-Fy" Creature-feature…
