This film holds up so well after 33 years that it dwarfs any CGI film that looks dated after 5 years. This is the magic of practical effects. This special screening was the directors cut, shown for the first time in a cinema, with a Q&A from Ellen Greene and an introduction from Frank Oz who said that if he made this today, he wouldn't be able to make this film without using CGI as that is the nature of the film industry today, and I think he is sadly right.
