Having seen one of the earlier versions I knew more or less what to expect, but that didn’t stop the feelings of pain and frustration that came along with the atrocities the protagonists both committed and witnessed. It’s a good reminder that a lot of the time soldiers aren’t at fault for their actions, rather it’s the men behind the lines, risking nothing of themselves, who hold the bulk of the blame.
Pairs really well with Come and See in both it’s tone and views on war as a whole.
