Oh boy. This is gonna divide people I think because it’s definitely the weirdest Star Wars movie to date. Also the boldest due to a lot of choices made by writer/director Rian Johnson.
There is a surprising amount of comedy here and it’s a much more introspective movie than I anticipated. The action is good when it happens but a lot of this movie’s meat is people just talking to one another and while I liked that, I can see other people tuning out.
It’s kind of Empire adjacent (and a little Jedi adjacent) in the same way Force Awakens was New Hope adjacent but The Last Jedi has more of its own voice to it in my opinion.
All in all, it’s a great time. I loved it.
I can’t wait for Rian Johnson’s Star Wars trilogy.
