The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2

    ★★★

Team Cullen vs Volturi fake out battle royale kicked ass. Also I totally forgot that Lee Pace and Rami Malek are in this movie so that was a fun surprise

I don't know what's scarier; the CGI they used for the baby or the CGI they used to make Kristen Stewart look like a dessicated corpse.

When I watched this for the first time in theaters two years ago, I left it feeling pretty cold. I didn't ”get it” or whatever and in hindsight I just think I didn't engage with it on it’s own terms. But even though after that first viewing I told myself I didn't really like it, I still thought about it a lot and the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it was just not a good day to be at the movies.

And now, after finally rewatching it like I have been planning to forever, I just gotta say....wow.

Surprisingly undercooked! There are a few genuinely sweet moments and there is definitely a charm to it all but it still just barely ends up being fine. Still interested in what a follow up film from Jonah Hill would look like though so in that respect, it worked I guess.

  • Underwater

    ★★★

This is an okay movie that I have seen at least a dozen times before but there are some neat moments in this bad boy and the set design is cool. There isn't an actual character in this entire movie but not every movie can be ALIEN, no matter how hard it tries.

Obligatory ”god damn” at how hot Kristen Stewart is in this. Another obligatory ”fuck you” to TJ Miller.

    The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Legitimately very good, especially by the standards of the last two movies. Looks great, doesn't feel that long, they actually have a decent script for once and the Cullens/Werewolves vs Newborn Vamps stuff is really cool.

  • The Twilight Saga: New Moon

    The Twilight Saga: New Moon

    ★★

This movie feels like it’s 100 hours too long but the werewolf stuff is great. The scene where Victoria is being chased by the wolves while ”Hearing Damage” plays? *chef kiss*

The script is still buttcheeks but whatever, we aren't here for King Lear.

The soundtrack kicks ass but we already knew that.

    Twilight

    ★★★

Script? Very bad. Everything else? Mostly very fun! The actors are giving way too much to a movie that isn't giving them much. The baseball scene is a legitimate all-time great and you can just debate your mother on that one.

I would risk it all for 1971 Jane Fonda, my goodness gracious.

On the real though, this movie rips. Killer score and I loved how it played around with themes of identity. Definitely not what I expected! A great blind watch.

    This was incredible.

    Somebody please hug Shia LaBeouf.

Definitely one of the most disarming sci-fi movies I’ve seen in a while and one that really spits in the face of the almost toxic optimism a movie like Interstellar spouted. It’s kind of refreshing? Vile and unsettling at times but refreshing all the same.

This is the best video game movie I’ve ever seen and it’s not even based on a video game! It fucking RULES.
