Michael Vazquez’s review published on Letterboxd:
Better than Homecoming. Tom Holland continues to make his case as the best Spider-Man/Peter Parker and quite frankly, he doesn’t have to, he just is. Tobey Maguire is my favorite at heart and all but Holland just fits the character like a glove, period.
Zendaya (who’s on the verge of breaking out very soon, she’s killing it in HBO’s teen gritty drama series “Euphoria”) gets more to work with as MJ and shares PERFECT chemistry with Holland. Jake Gyllenhaal is great as Mysterio, gives us another great MCU villain. Marisa Tomei (who I wish had more screentime as young Aunt May), Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori & others reprise their respective roles from the first one & all get their moments to shine. Samuel L. Jackson returns as current Nick Fury, good to see him back.
There’s lot to like about Far From Home. It’s an excellent Spidey movie & IMO better than Homecoming. It’s funnier, more exciting, has more action, Holland/Zendaya finally gets to share more on-screen time as Parker & MJ, Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio is easily one of the best MCU villains & it’s nothing but great fun.
Stay through the mid & end credits, they’re very worth it. Especially, the mid one which brought a HUGE smile to my face!
