Michael Vazquez’s review published on Letterboxd:
Lovable film, sometimes funny, sad and moving performances. Johnny Depp is terrific as Gilbert Grape, long-suffering guy who deals with a lot. Juliette Lewis is brilliant and attractive here (definitely one of the best underrated character actresses of the 90's and today). Laura Harrington & Mary Kate Schellhardt are great as the sisters. John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover & Mary Steenburgen are always good. Leonardo DiCaprio is the star here, getting his first Oscar nomination at the age of 19 playing the mentally handicapped Arnie, one of his best performances of his career.
