Nosferatu ★★★★

Hoop-Tober 3.0 #29

I wanted to say that I don't know anything about German expressionism but then again at least half of the silent films I've seen are from that era so I should probably say that I don't know anything about silent films in general unless they're by Benjamin Christensen. Anyway, this was probably the first silent film I watched where I actually liked the music - there are so many movies where the music is distracting or just doesn't fit the story at all but this one is really great. Nosferatu must have been pretty scary when it came out but even now it has a great atmosphere even though I had to laugh several times - especially when he was carrying his coffin around in the city.
