It's Only the End of the World

Juste la fin du monde is not Mommy and that's fine because it doesn't have to. It would be wrong to compare these two movies or expect that everything Dolan does from now on has to be as good - or even better than Mommy, because that's just not possible.

This is not a perfect movie - it's far from perfect, actually. But that doesn't mean that it isn't good. Even though the movie has some flaws, it has it's…

  • Heartbeats

There are people who call Juste la fin du monde Dolan's worst film, but how is that even possible if Les amours imaginaires already exists?

  • Nocturnal Animals

    Nocturnal Animals

As I'm sitting here trying to write a review I'm still not sure if this movie deserves any more of my time after it already wasted 2 hours of my day - the entire afternoon actually.

Before watching Nocturnal Animals I was already unsure whether I'd like it, because I've read some good things but also many bad things about it but I decided to give it a try. But then the opening credits happened. I mean okay it was…

  • The Accountant

    The Accountant

I wanted to get some useful information about accounting but apparently it involves much more murder than I thought.

  • Love Actually

    Love Actually

Things I learned while watching Love Actually with commentary:

Emma is very good with vegetables
Apparently Billy Bob Thornton is afraid of Benjamin Disraeli and antique furniture
The dancing scene is shorter than it should be because Hugh Grant started to sing the i take you down line
Nobody has a better walk than Colin Firth
Horror movies are less scary on planes
The other ideas for the ending of Mark and Juliet were much creepier

    Things I still dont know:

Why there are lobsters at the Nativity play

  • Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Big Eyes was probably the best Burton Movie since... I don't even know anymore, maybe since the 90s, and it wasn't even that good. Anyway, after the brief foray to more realistic movies he's back with yet another fantastic CGI-nightmare. I'm so tired of his movies, I have no idea why I keep watching them. I know that I'm not gonna like them, I know that the movies are bad but there's still a part of me that hopes he'll…

  • The Dancer

    The Dancer

My rating probably makes the movie look worse than it is. It's not a bad movie - most of it is pretty great actually. But still, it's never more than another biopic. I'm sure there would have been a better way to tell Loïe Fuller's story than a formulaic movie with made up characters that are supposed to make it more interesting. I mean does this movie really need Louis? Does Loïe need him? The romantic subplot is so unnecessary…

  • American Honey

    American Honey

I kinda feel like I have to justify why I didn't like American Honey as much as everyone else but you know what? I don't. I went into this movie expecting that I would love it just like everyone else did even though I didn't know anything about it and didn't really have any expectations what it would be like. So yeah, I went into it with an open mind but it wasn't my kind of movie. I knew this…

  • Shirley: Visions of Reality

    Shirley: Visions of Reality

When I started this movie I knew that there was a pretty high chance that I wouldn't like it but I still wanted to give it a try. Well, I tried but there's basically no plot and pretty visuals alone clearly wasn't enough to keep me awake let alone focused (to be fair it was a long day and I'm tired). I don't know what I expected, the movie is basically a living painting, but still I expected more. I…

  • Velvet Goldmine

    Velvet Goldmine

This is the second time I watched Velvet Goldmine within a week and I still can't believe how good it is. There are so many things happening in this movie and it just shouldn't work that well, but it does - even more than that... it's magical. It's like a modern glam rock fairy tale and I love every second of it.

  • Tom at the Farm

    Tom at the Farm

This movie is so good, it almost makes me forget about Xavier Dolan's ugly noodle hair.

  • You've Got Mail

    You've Got Mail

I thought it's impossible to hate Tom Hanks but this movie proved me wrong. His character in You've Got Mail is probably the reason why people tell you not to meet somebody you met online and I just can't believe that this is supposed to be cute... He ruined her life, he stood her up, he constantly lied to her and he was just a massive piece of shit in general and she just forgave him. I hope she found a way to ruin his life and take over his shop.
