the first time i saw the scene where elio and oliver move further apart as they circle the ww1 monument floored me. such impossible feelings articulated with blocking and cinematography. i know its not hard to make italy beautiful but every shot of this movie feels like a painting. last 10 minute gut punch of michael stuhlbargs speech + fireplace scene is devestating. and the music!!!

i saw this movie the first time in film club at college with a screener my professor had. it ripped my heart out and i walked around campus aimlessly afterwards because i felt pretty unable to go back to my dorm and just exist normally. glad to see it still has that effect on me!
