I foolishly hated this film for winning Best Picture over Fury Road at the Oscars. I stubbornly failed to judge it on it's own merits, assuming it was just another Oscar bait.
With enough years to reflect, it really does hold up upon rewatch. I can see why many argue this is the closest 21st Century equivalent to the classic All The President's Men. You compare Spotlight to a less interesting film like Spielberg's The Post which has a say-something-fast-on-fake-news shallowness to it, and the latter pales in comparison.
