This slasher sequel lets a ruthless Ghostface loose in the city, slicing up an intense, flawless entry that continues the streak of insightful introspection while escalating the thrills, kills, humor and heart to a breathless degree.
The commentary may not have the bite of the previous two entries (after all, so little time as passed that there really isn't much to say that wasn't communicated a year ago), but Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett more than make up for that, skewing even more meta (it's very "Scream 4") and bringing a whole other level of brutality to the proceedings.
"Scream VI" is yet another winner in what might just be the most consistent horror franchise in existence.
