The trauma of loss is maybe the worst part of death. Sure, the act of dying can be horrifying, but what is it, really, but the natural end of all life? Better to die willingly and purposefully than "in fear and shame." And if you've lost someone, the love of a family, chosen or biological, is the best cure.
