Just good, not great. I enjoyed what is essentially a retelling of the book of the same name.
This is, without a doubt, one of the best horror films I've seen in recent memory.
Kent tells a very tight, tense story and its supported by a strong script and powerful leads. Both the actress playing the mother and the young actor playing the son were stunning to watch.
The level of dread and revulsion that persists throughout the film is incredible and the films Babadook payoff is odd and wonderful.
I'll be thinking about this one for months to come.
I'm sure there are people who will like it but for my money its is 100% devoid of originality, every single scare is telegraphed, rigid acting galore, doesn't have any rules that it follows and therefore makes shit up as it goes along and has a really terrible ending. I can't see anyone paying more than ninety nine cents at redbox for this one.
