did not swoon for dune as much as i expected but still, i can't imagine a better fit for this film than villeneuve. very much half a movie and i very much felt it's length, though that's not necessarily a complaint when there's nothing to fault in the technical department. greig frasier frames everything to feel ginormous and hans zimmers score kicks you in the ass. movies now however need to either provide an easy subtitle option or get their actors to speak like its the 1950's again so i don't have to struggle to understand mumbles and whispers. space jargon is already hard enough to understand. definitely felt like i was transported to another world etc etc but i was missing something to really hook me in and knock me off my seat. honestly would have earned extra points from me if all the characters were much much sweatier. maybe once i see part 2 it will all come together for me and they will all be appropriately persperating. duncan idaho is a hilarious name for a character.
