some knockout performances and tense moments but i didn't really think it all amounted to much. for a story that wants to nihilistically explore characters driven by violence and religious corruption, it feels pretty shallow and flat in execution. i feel like i've seen other films like this that worked for me much better. also could have easily done this without the narration and kept the whole story focused on 1965 tom holland from start to finish. the performances really do a lot of heavy lifting here but i don't think this really stands out as a whole.
