A creepy gem of the dangerous, sleazy, New York era of the early ‘80s. Takes inspiration from the works of Paul Schraeder (TAXI DRIVER in particular) and MANIAC but perhaps meanders too much in the second half despite an impressive first. Falls just short of being a classic but still highly recommended thanks to a compelling plot, memorable performances, and beautiful photography.
