Mike Ward’s review published on Letterboxd:
Is there a film out this year that felt more built on algorithms than this? Were the settings put on “The film American critics want Lars von Trier and PTA to make”,”The film Sophia Coppola & Jonathan Glazer are afraid to make (For different reasons)” or “The film that Ben Wheatley & Tom Ford should be making but can’t”?
I can definitely appreciate Yorgos switching things up and not letting himself get trapped in his own stylistic fortress like so many brandable weird/quirky filmmakers before him. Having said that, would hate for him to stay in this ultra-cute/“please love me, I can play nice” phase too long either. If anything I hope he’s able to go even further with his ability to get great performances out of his talent.
