Sara Clements’s review published on Letterboxd:
Gagarine is so creative. Named after Yuri Gagarin, the first man into space, the film’s Youri dreams of going to space himself. This is emphasized mainly by the film’s camera tricks and production design. They make his apartment complex out to be a spaceship, ready to liftoff. Unfortunately, it does but not in the way he wishes. The film fizzles out towards the end, but it’s a poignant story about the childhood dream of reaching for the stars and how things like gentrification hold back our low income youth from achieving all that they desire.
