This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

The moral of the story (pick one):

    a) Romanticising the past is not healthy.
    b) Women are more likely to be victims of abuse than men.
    c) Maybe the accusation that Edgar Wright can't write a good female character to save his life is true, there were so many scenes where Ellie could've saved herself but just chose to have an anxiety spiral instead.
    d) I should not be writing Letterboxd reviews.

Let me apologise for being a 2016 studio cut Squad defender for the last five years - Ayer was right. The version of his Suicide Squad that went into cinemas definitely isn't his. Gunn's version solves a lot of the problems of the original, namely the pacing, character development and the restrictions on gore that feel uncharacteristic for the Suicide Squad. In fact, it feels like the closest thing we have right now to a director's cut of the original Squad.
