Mark M.’s review published on Letterboxd:
This was a fun film to watch, but it was not one of Lynch's best. It's a road movie and melodrama with lots of allusions to The Wizard of Oz and references to Elvis. Laura Dern and Diane Ladd are excellent in it, as well as most of the other actors, many of whom star in other Lynch movies or Twin Peaks. Ladd is hilarious, campy, garish, and over the top in this film. There are some great sequences. Honestly, though, I'm surprised it won the Palme d'Or in 1990 since the movie is a bit of a mess in parts. Several subplots are introduced and never resolved or have no real connection to the rest of the movie. The seemed to have been put in the movie for the sake of being weird. However, this is a must-see film for Lynch enthusiasts.
