Stop Making Sense

Stop Making Sense ★★★★★

Recommended to me by Mikey as part of the 23 Before 24 Challenge | Film 2 of 23

Possibly one of the greatest concert films ever, Stop Making Sense is a fantastic example of how great the Talking Heads can be, showcasing their brilliant stage charisma and raw power with their songs. From opening with Psycho Killer and going right the way through to Cross-Eyes And Painless, you get the feeling that you're watching something special.

I was quite simply left in awe of this concert and it goes on the bucket list of things to visit in person should I ever get access to a time machine. This is the third film that I've seen by Jonathan Demme now and it's clear that he's a master in multiple genres, regardless of the subject matter. The Talking Heads are legendary but this is the first time I've seen a video of a live performance of them, and it surpassed all of my expectations. Regardless of whether or not you're familiar with the band (and if not, you should be), you need to watch this. It's phenomenal in every sense of the word.
