    Kiki's Delivery Service

    "KIKI, LOOK IT'S ME!"

I've always found that my favourite Studio Ghibli films are the ones that feel like they go on forever. Kiki's Delivery Service feels less like a movie and more like a gentle summer vacation. Thanks to the patient pacing and the loveable cast of characters, I feel like I visited this town, met all these people and became friends with them. Seeing this in a packed theatre was a delight.

Also, if you're seeing the theatrical…

    Barbie: Star Light Adventure

A more engaging galactic adventure than the recent Star Wars and Star Trek offerings. SO MANY SUAVE ROBOTS. Gorgeous backgrounds, too. One of the best Barbie flicks from a visual and character standpoint.

The LIGHTING too. My gosh, the SUN shining through the Trees! Everything was just so cool. Good time.

    Poor Hazuki.

Also, did anyone else see the recap that was supposed to play before this? I took a friend to see it because I'd read that there would be a quick recap of the series that brings newcomers up to speed, but there was no such recap at our showing tonight.

At one point the movie froze and "New George" was staring at me for a long time. imgur.com/a/eHLi6R3

During that time, I had a chance to think. "George, why do you smile at me?"

Then it hit me. It was because the film froze.

Eventually it started again and everything was fine.

The film was perfect by the way.

I did not expect this story to end where Shrek begins.

Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie

For my birthday, I decided to finally give this a watch. (Been meaning to for years but just never got around to it) It's a little overlong and not every joke lands, but for me the laughs were frequent. Definitely worth watching if you enjoy the humour found in the AVGN series.

I caught an easter egg that I missed in my first viewing; A photo of Conner's grandfather, who appears to also be played by Liam Neeson. As if this wasn't emotional enough...

These days I'm often anxious when I revisit a film that I love. I'm afraid that it will either not hold up or that it won't resonate with me the same way, if at all. I'm happy to say that while a Monster Calls is a more effective…
