The Holcroft Covenant 1985
Frankenheimer still having fun with shots and giving effort, with a little bit of Hitchcock vibes (average man out of his depth, jumping around Europe, and something about the early matte shot of NYC skyscrapers behind Caine’s hard architecting is evocative of ‘50s/‘60s Hitchcock). The plotting is lazy — the Euro-trotting is unmotivated and boring — and the score cheapens every scene. Not a worthless effort though.
