Mitch Wiley’s review published on Letterboxd :
Mifune is one of the most magnetic movie stars on screen in anything he’s in. He shines here as always. Mifune and Kurosawa may be one of the best actor/director pairings in cinema.
Leone’s Eastwood can’t quite rise to this level in the Dollars trilogy. Ironically, Kurosawa often outdoes the Western genre he’s paying homage to. And then the Western genre plays homage to (or rips off?) Kurosawa.
