I thoroughly enjoyed going through most of the Abbott and Costello collection last year, and I've really been looking forward to this one ever since. Apparently it's a thing to credit Abbott and Costello for ruining Universal's Monster Universe, but honestly these average reviews really show that this one is a hit that's stood the test of time regardless of what happened to the franchises afterward. I really loved this one. I cheesed like a fanboy throughout the film. Abbott…

Batman 1966
Batman takes on four of his arch-enemies at once! One of the silliest, campiest live-action films one can find is also the first live-action non-independently-produced superhero film - 1966's Batman. I don't think I've seen this one for 30 years and honestly I think I had forgotten that I had seen it in my youth, confusing this film with the television series that followed with the same actors and costumes. In watching it, however, I recalled the best memories of…

Striptease 1996
What this film does best is show exactly how different the world was just 30 years ago in the 90's. Demi Moore being paid higher than any other female entertainer at the time just to dance a few topless stripteases is one example. Another example is how this film's story has the strip-club become a daycare for Demi's daughter, who she kidnaps from her no-good father. I can't imagine that flying at all today. What hasn't changed is the way…

Sound of Freedom 2023
Borrowed this one (because I decided not to support this one monetarily after reading that multiple former employees accused Tim Ballard, the subject of the film, of "sexual harassment, spiritual manipulation, grooming, and sexual misconduct.") to get a review in on this controversial feature.
It didn't take much research to discover that this astroturfed flick is as close to a true story as Inglorious Bastards was.
Don't get me wrong. Child trafficking and pedophilia are disgusting, and any film that…

Apollo 13 1995
A giant film in cinematic history. This film might not have been the first historical drama, but its critical success cemented the genre as a big-budget money maker on the big screen, which documentaries had been seemingly trying to do since the inception of the film industry. There's really no telling how many more people have seen Niel Armstrong land on the moon in the introduction of this film than have actually pulled the events up on you-tube or elsewhere.…

The Batman 2022
I'm not typically behind the curve on Super-Hero flicks, and technically I'm not really behind the curve here considering the film currently sits at a 4.4 average rating, but there are certainly more folks here rating this one five stars than with me here at 4.5 stars. This film does what it does extremely well, no doubt, but I'm gonna quote a friend who I saw the film with -
