This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Lately, I've been reflecting on the works of Woody Allen. I’ve been watching many of his films over and over again recently; the more I watch and learn about him, the more I just admire everything he does. This has culminated in me giving four of his films that I’ve seen a 10/10; the only other director having done that being Tarkovsky. And recently I think he’s earned the title as being my favorite screenwriter/director at this point. Not only…

Okay. First things first; I really like Waves. Is it perfect? No. Are there things I don't like? Absolutely. But with that said, I really ended up connecting with the story this film was trying to tell. I've seen it up to four times now and there is a lot I wanna talk about.

Very overdue for my first Cassavetes. He's always seemed like a director that I would love, especially with his raw 70s nature and esthetic. Even though I did like this film overall, I think think this is the best starting point for his filmography. Took me a bit to get invested into what was going on at first. A film that Inspires me every time I see it. Absolutely adore the way the way everything is framed, even when a shot seems like it shouldn’t work it does. Shots like the one of the body slowly bleeding out will be stuck in my head for a long time. Thematically the film from M. Night that emotionally effects me the most, nearly having me cry during the opening scene alone. Showing a truly human side to everything that is just beautiful. My favorite film from M. Night. hands down.
