    Snake Eyes

Many cinephiles seem to consider Snake Eyes to be lower-tier Brian De Palma, and I can't really agree since I haven't seen any of De Palma's "classic" thrillers like Dressed to Kill, Blow Out, or Body Double. Actually, this is only my third De Palma film, with Mission: Impossible, and Raising Cain being the first two. Being less oriented with De Palma's style probably helped me enjoy this more, and I'm also a big Nicolas Cage fan, which definitely helps.…

    Chill Factor

No one's ever going to accuse Chill Factor of being original, but it's a perfectly passable 90s action film that works because of the two leads. It is pretty derivative of other films at the time, but if you're an action fan, a lot of this may not matter, and you may enjoy it like I did.

    Con Air

Of all the 90s action flicks out there, Con Air may be the most cartoonish. I mean this as a compliment. It's almost impossible to take this film seriously, which is ok, because the film doesn't ask you to.

  • Brannigan

While it doesn't exactly make good on its promises of being action-packed or thrilling, Brannigan is still fine entertainment if you're in it for the right reasons. It's a fun movie, and it's just a kind of film that's not really getting made anymore. Any movie that has John Wayne in full granddad mode, an assassin with a super cool car, a legitimately good, if unintentional travelogue of London, and a serviceable fish out of water story must be good.…
