Moonpanther’s review published on Letterboxd:
By far Miyazaki’s most underrated film; it perfectly showcases his talent to create beautiful, abstract worlds and wonderful characters.
This is the first movie of his to be scored by Joe Hisaishi, and as usual, his music is absolutely gorgeous. It mixes classical themes with 80s synth and they both work together surprisingly well.
Fun fact: Hideaki Anno (creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion and Shin Godzilla) animated the giant warrior near the end and it is obviously one of the best scenes in the film.
Though I think Princess Mononoke (Miyazaki’s other environmental film) is better, Nausicaä is still one of the best the medium has to offer.
And cmon... how can you not love those cute little Ohmu?
