Perfect Blue ★★★★

Reminiscent of Black Swan, Perfect Blue is an unsettling psychological thriller that effectively uses its premise to craft a uneasy off-kilter sense of reality, and was surprisingly disturbing in its violence, both sexual and gruesomely bloody. Released in 1997, it’s quite prescient in capturing the dynamic of one’s self and their online persona, used to wring horror and suspense from its theme of crumbling identity.
