The Night House

The Night House ★★★★

Who knew negative space could be so terrifying? The Night House has lingered in my mind since my first watch and I appreciated the film even more with foresight of where it leads, how its drama and horror intertwine. The closest approximation to whatever an Ari Aster adaptation of a particularly out-there Stephen King short story might look like; Rebecca Hall is 2021’s 2018’s Toni Collette (and maybe 2022’s as well, with how fantastic she is in Resurrection), aka the utterly-committed emotionally-searing horror performance that won’t earn the awards it deserves.
