These 70's animal attack films - specifically the sub-set of the type involving insects or creepy-crawlies of some kind - tend to follow a similar path in being unusually dry and self-serious - even if they're actually going right off the deep end of lunacy like in The Swarm - and Bugs is no exception to that general tone.
