Much more enjoyable to watch this time as I was in a better mindset and wasn't asleep for most of the first act. It's a well directed and nicely shot film that captures the feeling of its time and place well. However, the film may seem slow and boring without the knowledge of that historical/political context, and the final scene may not work for everyone.

Corn Island 2014
I expected this to be dull and pretentious but it was actually honestly pretty good. Perhaps not perfect in regards to all plot elements but across the board pretty engaging stuff despite the simplicity, slow pacing and lack of dialogue. The direction is sincere and the cinematography is gentle and engrossing. Also, hear me out, but the quiet portions of the film where he's just building and farming might be the best live-action adaptation of Minecraft. I'm completely serious.
