Ollie Cochran’s review published on Letterboxd:
This was a rather cute family film that I had fun watching on a Saturday evening. It just felt a little forced in some ways, however. Enola’s constant breaking of the fourth wall just didn’t quite cut it for me and the story was a jumble of different elements. Henry Cavill’s Sherlock is just really, really bland; and, whilst I can respect it’s not his film, it feels annoying to have such an iconic figure portrayed so mundanely. Millie Bobbie Brown is a great actor, but her whole routine got extended out too far into an annoying realm. The technical elements were rather cool: the animation effects for the anagrams, in particular. So, all-in-all, not an awful film; just a distinctly mediocre one, and around the par of Netflix’s original film oeuvre.
