Mike’s review published on Letterboxd:
Spellbinding, intricate and ambitious from beginning to end. Leos Carax has a way of glue me to the screen while developing the most ludicrous, offbeat of events and never letting me go for a second. Annette is able to rise above its more overwhelming elements with nuanced storytelling, surprising gravitas and some unforgettable sequences. A cinematic high-wire act that’s very easy to admire and brilliant to contemplate. It also boasts a career defining performance from Adam Driver and very solid, inspiring supporting turns from Marion Cotillard and Simon Helberg. Don’t miss this film. No matter what you end up thinking about it, this is an experience you won’t regret having.
