Magnolia is a 3-hour movie that takes place primarily in one day and writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson never allows the movie to become boring, repetitive or predictable. Instead, he uses these perfectly portrayed characters and fascinating drama to make an epic, entertaining and beautifully deep film that really takes our conventional ideas of narrative and gives them a 180-degree turn. I'm still not sure if this is PTA's best film but it is certainly up there.
