    Beverly Hills Cop II

Pretty much the exact same movie as the first one, only longer and less interesting.... still a fun time, though.

I never noticed before how the main theme in this one is an almost direct lift of The Duke's theme from Escape From New York. It's shameless and I love it. Feels like the lost John Carpenter soundtrack that I always needed.

Anyway, Beverly Hills Cop 2 works best whenever Eddie Murphy starts riffing and there's plenty of that going on here. Tony Scott's direction is powerful but for a film with such a slim plot, it really drags.

An easy watch and a welcome revisit.

    Perfect Blue

Supremely dark psychological thriller from the golden age of Manga - Perfect Blue is about as bleak and cynical as it gets.

A pop-star is pressured by management to quit singing and become an actress.... what follows is a disturbing tale of abuse, humiliation and mental instability within the entertainment industry as our protagonist is stalked by weirdo's, attacked by jealous crazies and physically disrespected by an industry that literally feeds off youthful innocence.

    Street Fighter

Lets not fool ourselves here - Street Fighter is a piece of shit.
But I'll be damned if time isn't being kind to this car crash. Watching it as a straight comedy last night in a packed cinema, it was a hoot.

    Train to Busan

Damn, Train to Busan. I don't know what to say.
It's an emotional rollercoaster, that's for sure. A slow start quickly gives way to an adrenaline packed, emotionally wrenching horror movie. Although to be more accurate, this ain't no ordinary horror movie; it's an action movie, a disaster movie & a family drama all in one.

Zombies on a train is such a cool idea (Horror Express already proved this) - I mean, where do you escape to?…
