Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ★½

Let me start by saying that this is an insult to the excellent work Rian Johnson did in The Last Jedi and it's just 2hrs20min of fan servicing that makes no sense.
The film feels more like a video game rather than an actual film with an actual plot. It's just one obstacle after another, one mission after another which many people can see as fun but this is favoring fun over actual story telling.
Nothing is happening that really pushes the story further, it's just happening because the writers want to get to a certain point in the story no matter what.
There are plot holes left and right, nothing makes sense even within the mythology. You don't feel that the stakes are high because every major problem was faced with a silly over the top solution to help the heroes along the way.
There's no character development here. What made the new trilogy superior was the fact that it had excellently written characters who themselves pushed the course of the story. Here it was the complete opposite. The characters were driven by the situation regardless if it made sense with their personalities.
Overall this was an unsatisfying cheesy ending done not to actually end what is probably the most popular franchise ever, but to give "fans" "what they want" and have a goodnight's sleep.
