I was going to give it a 3.5/5 star ranting... And then, that ending happened. LORD ALMIGHTY!!!
OK, so as a horror film, it personally didn't work that well for me. There are some great to fantastic gore moments, but the beauty of the movie lies on its comedy. It ain't hysterical, but once it hits, it HITS!
Weaving definitely has a great future ahead, she was so awesome when she needed to be both badass or play the victim or naive. You buy every second of her on screen. Brody does a great job on his supporting role.
The photography and camera work was pretty uneven. There are some nice shots, but when they go full Greengrass, it's hard to enjoy the scene because you get a bit fuzzy with all that shaking.
The editing was pretty good. Though, it felt a bit rushed the whole family intro and it takes a while to really pick up.
The script is quite entertaining, really funny with some creative twists here and there.
In the end, Ready or Not really worhs a shot and if you go on the right mood and audience you are sure to have a blast! Definitely the Happy Death Day of the year so far.
