MrScreamer’s review published on Letterboxd:
great visuals and a competent performance from lead actress charlotte vega become muddled due to a script that suffers from bad pacing and a cast of stereotypical characters. the second half turns the movie into a dark age fantasy and the whole cult subplot must’ve been inspired by 2019’s “midsommar” — a fascinating change of pace.
a mixed bag overall, but an applaudable effort nonetheless — a formulaic 7th entry would have likely been the final wrong turn for this franchise. i don’t know where a sequel could go after that twisted ending shot but i’m open to more experimenting.
