    Making Dazed


    This movie is just so pure and good at being what it is. Nostalgia isn't rosy. It's gray. And full of bong resin. It also kind of blew my mind when Linklater said that Wally Wiggins getting paddled was a metaphor for himself getting Initiated into Hollywood filmmaking.

    Thank God for Jim Jacks.

    DAMN right!

    At its best, an umabashed love letter to Japanese monster movie fans, and I mean that as a compliment. Michael Dougherty also manages to have solid sense of big blockbuster movie pacing, and we get if not fully dimesional then more interesting human characters than the 2014 film...     Seriously, it's a strange thing for me to give this 5 stars because it almost feels like a duty to do so because of its status as a classic thriller and for its set pieces... actually that's not really true, but I'll get to what I love about the movie in a moment.
