    "When you see beauty in Desolation it changes something inside you. Desolation tries to colonize you."

    Although I can't say for certain, but I'd bet money on Alex Garland being a huge fan of the deep ecology movement of invasive ecology. (Which, basically just argues that just because a native species 'got here first' doesn't mean it owns the land more than any non-native species.) (e.g. see here, and ‘Ex Machina’)

    Incredible that this won best VFX Oscar in the same year as Fury Road, particularly with its minuscule budget. What I think was the reason behind this was because the fx did not hinder the ability to tell the story during production, much akin to ILM’s recent work on ‘The Irishman'.     Masterpiece Masterpiece Masterpiece

    Bong's been my favorite director for the better part of two years now ever since I studied his filmography in-depth for one of my classes.

    And, I didn't think it was possible, but this may very well b my new favorite Bong film. ('Mother' may still have it beat...which is shocking since its one of the few that doesn't star GOAT Song) At the least, easily favorite film of the year so far.
