The Double Life of Véronique

The Double Life of Véronique ★★★★★

I’m sure there are probabilities of extended metaphors within this piece, the relationship between Eastern and Western Europe or Kieslowski’s coming journey from the Polish cinema world to France, but frankly those pieces are less interesting than the actual film.

Double Life is so rich as a sensory experience that makes you contemplate the unexplained emotional states that life gives us. What is connection? What are our senses? And how do these things inform our choices? I just love living in this investigation of humanity. It takes me to places of self analysis that few films do. I don’t need a “why” as much as the process the film takes me through feels like a spiritual experience.

It’s masterpiece and one of a kind.
