I’ve seen 5300 films, and of those I’ve seen half.
Letterboxer since March 13th, 2019.
Not going to lie - this was extremely entertaining. Comedies should be funny, and “The Hustle” most certainly was!
Look, it’s definitely no awards-contender, and probably not even top five comedies of the year; but, it was an unexpected delight from two actresses I’m a fan of.
I’ll definitely return to this one again...
For the record, I am not a fan of this ‘sub-genre’ (musical biopics) at all. I gave 2018’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” 1.5 stars, and the only reason I give Fletcher’s spiritual sequel a higher score is because it at least had the guts to be more honest.
Still, it’s a washed-down look at an incredible life; and, save Egerton’s fantastic portrayal of Elton John, there’s nothing much to save this film from being just plain mediocre.
It’s a shame that this will more than likely be the last Marvel film - or superhero film for that matter - that I’ll watch for a while in the near future, because they’ve finally done it.
With “Avengers: Endgame”, Marvel has finally turned this hater into an acceptor. This movie is impressive.
