Shaday’s review published on Letterboxd:
Good God, Viola Davis is a force to be reckoned with. She delivers a showstopping performance as usual. Make no mistake, Lashana, Sheila, Thuso and John all deliver powerful performances as well. Moving together in a beautiful way, The Woman King tells the story of an all woman group of warriors.
It’s a powerful reminder, especially to dark skin women of just how powerful they can be. This movie shows you a whole new world and I can see the dedication every single person put into their role. It’s a moving tale, one that I think will leave one or more of these actors as strong contenders for an Oscar and my God any one of them deserve it.
