This movie hit my psyche like a sack of potatoes, and told me to wake the hell up.
Is Persona’s vagueness meant to be intentional? I sure as heck had difficulty pinning this down. It’s an ambiguous film open for various interpretations.
The shots and visuals are its strongest elements (actually astounding), and the way Bergman displayed duality and separation. The cinematography is the most expressive in this film. It is its nuts and bolts. This is where my high rating really reflects, not because I love it.
To be honest, Persona is primarily an aesthetic experience so just concentrate on its mood and emotions conveyed. It is best appreciated in that manner.
