Matisse van Rossum’s review published on Letterboxd:
A delightful little mockumentary, Tumbleweed! tells the history of tumbleweeds, and one tumbleweed that tumbles at an exceptionally slower rate than the others, and is teased because of it. It's a very simple, succinct film, but contains a surprising amount of detail.
The cinematography is almost soothing, with many slow tracking shots of the dessert and an abandoned western town with tumbleweeds meandering their way through. The "historical archive" footage is done very convincingly in a 16mm black and white fashion, and the few CGI effects are convincing enough to not hurt the film.
The story is simple and clever and isn't self-indulgent. It lasts just as long as it needs to, and not a second longer. An excellently executed film all around.
