Marvel's fourteenth(!) installment delivers arguably the franchises most visually stunning film to date, but still for better or worse its still very much a marvel film through and through. Mikkelsen is sadly wasted as the film's villain and I can't say McAdams character added that much either. Swinton is great as expected, and Cumberbatch is completely fine as Strange. It does have some minor pacing issues and kind of stumbles into a third act that is too easily and unsatisfyingly resolved. In general the film lacked tension, but that isn't something new to marvel. What saves the movie from being totally forgettable is of course the marvelous psychedelic special effects.
