Only five years after Goodfellas, Scorsese makes this more indulgent three hour re-tread that goes through a few too many of the same motions, making for a disappointing entry in his career despite this being a decent watch. Stellar cast here brings to life the story of William Wilberforce and his tireless efforts to end slavery in England. Apted brings it all to the screen nicely though it does have a bit of a TV movie feel to it. In fact this feels like a story that might have benefited from a mini series treatment. Was familiar with the song but didn’t know of its origin which is explained here. Also, a weird experience hearing ‘God’ and ‘Jesus’ in dialogue delivered by the cast and not in a negative light.
Being a fan of Star Wars, I give this film five stars pretty easily despite being fully aware of its flaws. These flaws really bug a lot of people and are so bad that they ruin the experience, but that's not at all the case for me.

It's pretty incredible what Marvel Studios have accomplished in just ten years. Infinity War is the measure of their achievement. If the third Captain America movie played like an Avengers movie, then this Avengers movie plays out like the ultimate crossover usually reserved for comic book events. And it may not be perfect, but it was so much fun, for this initial viewing, I can't not give the film a full score.
